Additional Property Attributes

This site was formerly a gas station. The City of Jennings acquired the property in August 2016 and would like to build a new Civic Center on the lot, which would house City Hall services, a recreation center, conference rooms, and a meeting hall.

Three gasoline underground storage tanks appear on the Sanborn maps that don't appear to coincide with the location of the tanks removed in 1999. Auto repair operations were apparent on the site dating back to at least the 1930s. Historic auto repair stations and filling stations were located to the northwest and southwest of the site, as well as a current filling station located to the northwest. Additional investigation into the subsurface soil and groundwater for impacts from the RECs is recommended. The onsite waste oil aboveground storage tank should either be removed or have a secondary containmnent system erected around it. A thorough asbestos survey should be conducted prior to the disturbance of suspect asbestos-containing material during building demolition or reconstruction.
