Additional Property Attributes

This Phase 1 has allowed Newport Plastics business to be purchased and remain in operation. This was key to maintaining: a manufacturing business and employees in the region the industrial use of this property and an appropriate tenant to address the current permitting issues identified below. In the mean time, the owner of the property plans to address the underground storage tanks identified in the Phase 1 in order to later sell the property to the new owner of the business. The Phase 1 identified a expired air permit, two 2 underground storage tanks of unknown age, and the excess storage of controlled substances from the previous owner. The new owner has cleared up the air permitting for the businesses and is working with Vermont RCRA to properly dispose of the stored chemicals and gain RCRA permitting for the new operations. The underground storage tanks are to be removed by V&H Industrial Development Corp. property owner with the help of the Vermont Petroleum Clean-up Fund.

Former Use: The property is currently leased/occupied by Newport Plastics, Corp., which manufactures custom molded fiberglass products. The current owner V&H Industrial Development Corp. had purchased the property from Neal Austin NSA Industriesin December 1994. NSA Industries purchased the property in May 1994 from Lyndonville Savings Bank, who forclosed on Mardon Industries in 1990. According to NSA Industries, they manufactured sheet metal on this property and did not use any petroleum or hazardous chemicals. Mardon Industries operated from 1971-1990 and originally included both this parcel and the parcel across the street as one property. Mardon Industries utilized this portion of the original property as an office building and a sanding shop. Prior to this the property was part of the Elmore J. Quimby Farm.
