Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property is located at 640 Fourth Street, along Porter Avenue, which is a gateway into the west side of the City of Buffalo. The property is currently vacant with no structures. In the late 1800s, a brewing company operated on the property. A brass foundry utilized the property during the 1920s and 1930s. In the 1950s, an auto repair facility and restuarant were active. From the mid 1950s to mid 1960s, the property was used as an off ramp exit to the adjacent thruway. Since the 1960s, the property has been vacant. The current owner has owned the property since 1976. The property is targeted by the city of Buffalo due to its location near a major highway (US Route 190) and proximity to the Peace Bridge, an international crossing into Canada. Environmental conditions of the property are unknown. (PPF - Porter 2 Property, 6/26/2007)
