Additional Property Attributes

The Town of Worthington attempted to prepare a HUD Community Development Block Grant to fund property cleanup and demolition the buildings on site. Simultaneously decided to begin proceedings to foreclose on the property and auction it. USDA was not willing to wait for the town to secure funds and cleanup the property so the town abandoned their application.

Former Use: The Albert Farms property consists of two parcels of land totaling approx. 174 acres along the east and west sides of Huntington Road in Worthington, MA. the parcel on the west side of the road (Lot 680 is the subject of this assessment. The parcel on the east side of the road is 138 acres and has been sold to a private entity. Bernard M. Albert was the owner of the Albert Farms property (both lots). The Farm Service Agency, USDA was the mortgage holder and initiated foreclosure proceedings on the property on March 31, 2005. The Town of Worthington also filed an Instrument of Taking for non-payment of taxes. EPA's removal team is currently performing work on Lot 33.1. Lot 68 on the west side of the road is occupied by a cold storage warehouse and garage which have been used for agricultural storage and machinery maintenance. Watts Stream traverses the middle of the lot and a small man-made pond is located adjacent to the stream on the north end of the property. The portion of the lot to the west of the stream and pond consists of undeveloped woodlands. The future use of the property is unknown at this time.
