Additional Property Attributes

Supplemental investigation data analysis and Supplemental Investigation Report was completed Q3 2009. The purpose of this investigation was to refine the conceptual site model, better define remediation limits and evaluate site soil for potential reuse.

Former Use: 77 Cooper Street consists of 3.46 acres and is bisected by Harbor Brook. The site lies within the 100-year flood plain and is zoned for manufacturing use. The site contains a 100,000 sq ft multi-story former, brick factory building constructed in 1900. Approximately 3 dust collectors associated with the former manufacturing facility remain on the site as well. A 900 sq ft electrical transformer building, overhead heat conveyance piping, and a large above ground water storage tank also remain on the site. The C. Rogers and Bros. Silverware Manufacturers were in operation at the site in 1884. The International Silver Co. was in operation at the site in 1939. Processes included the manufacturing of silverware including casting, plating, machining, trimming, polishing, buffing, forging, storage, and shipping. The site is currently abandoned and fenced. The City of Meriden recently acquired the site. EPA conducted a removal action in early 2008 to address asbestos contamination within the factory building.
