Additional Property Attributes

The hazardous substances have been removed from the building, which will now be redeveloped for a community center. The basement will become the home of the 21st Century Learning center, with the upper levels planned as a new expanded Head Start facility and adult/alternative education classrooms. The Toole County Community Theatre will also find a permanent home in the gymnasium area for community productions. The City of Shelby is making every effort to restore and retain the original look of the building. This will be done in phases as funding becomes available. (PPF, Historical Shelby High School, 2/5/08)

Former Use: The site served as a school from 1931 until 2003. It is currently abandoned.
