Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The history of the building includes its use as a trading post and general store. The site was previously part of the Shepard family complex, which contained a fur trading outpost, cannery, fueling station, and general store. The former Old Village Store was built in the 1920s and covers approximately 8,000 square feet. It consists of a main floor that served as the grocery and hardware store, a second story that was used for housing, and a basement used to store extra supplies. Besides the poor condition of the building and the hazards associated with it, there are also two aboveground storage tanks located north of the Old Village Store building. These include a 5,000-gallon and 10,000-gallon-capacity tanks that had contained heating and diesel fuel. During a June 2005 sampling event, these tanks were noted to contain residual amounts of fuel.
