Additional Property Attributes

As part of the Phase I, a ground penetrating radar survey of the site was conducted to determine the presence of USTs or other magnetic sources such as pipelines or buried drums on January 13, 2009. No anonmalies indicative of USTs were identified. As part of the subsurface investigation, five soil borings were sampled. The soil analytical results indicated that were no exceedences of the applicable RCS-2 standards. Three of the soil borings were completed as groundwater monitoring wells. Groundwater samples collected during the initial monitoring event had high turbidity levels. In accordance with EPA protocols, these samples were not field filtered and were submitted for analysis, which detected elevated concentrations of ls and one VOC. A second groundwater monitoring event was conducted on March 13, 2009 and in accordance with MCP standards, groundwater samples were filtered and in the field and submitted for analysis. No exceedences of the applicable RCGW-2 standards were identified. Due to the high turbidity readings during the initial sampling event the results of the March 2009 sampling round are considered more representative of the site conditions.

Former Use: The site is located in the commerical center of the Town of Greenfield. A building has been located on the site since at least 1887. The 1887, 1902 and 1909 Sanborn Fire Insurance (SFI) Maps show the building was used for a commercial steam cleaning business. In 1914 the use changed to a garage, with a 75-gallon gasoline tank. By 1922, the site was still used as a garage but the gas tank was not depicted on the SFI map. From 1948 through 2004, the site was used as an auto parts store. The building has been vacant since 2004.
