Additional Property Attributes

The United States Army and Air Force jointly used the site from 1950 to 1979 as the Nike Hercules Missile Base. When operations ceased, the 61 acre facility spread over seven parcels was turned over to the Town of Cambria Housing Authority. The Lockport Air Force Base-6 site is one of the parcels which totals 5.6 acres that was used for guest housing, air raid shelter, and diesel generating station.

The diesel generating station and guest housing buildings have been removed and contaminated soil remediated. The former Air Raid Shelter was constructed with two feet thick concrete walls and no windows and remains on the site.
