Additional Property Attributes

The City of Oklahoma City purchased the Postal Processing Center in 2008 as a significant, property acquisition in the Core to Shore planning area. OKC performed AIA prior to the purchase. The Postal Processing Center currently occupies a portion of the proposed 70-acre civic park that will connect downtown to the Oklahoma River. The 70 acre park will be developed in increments with the a completion date of early 2021. Former Use: The site was used as office and workspace for mail arrivals, separation and deliveries as well as vehicle maintenance facility by the USPS from 1961-2008. The USPS had a number of USTs on site associated with vehicle maintenance. Earlier historical uses of the site include Residences, Stables, Apartments, Automotive Facilities, Retail, Mission/Church, Restaurant, and Health Clinic. This site has been redeveloped into Upper Scissortail Park. This location includes Scissortail Park Lake. A Liner Whale was detected in the lake in early April 2021. The 2008 BF 96679701 Post-closeout Program Income was used to investigate the Liner whale and carry out a cleanup plan to mitigate the problem. The Liner Whale identified some leaks in the recirculation system. The City of Oklahoma City's MAPS 4 office was in charge of the patch of the liner whale and further mitigation of the liner whale.
