Property Highlights

Based on the findings of the Phase I ESA, a Phase II ESA was recommended. Based on data collected during the Phase II BTA, no significant environmental impacts were identified at the Ellis Community Center Property therefore, no additional environmental response is necessary.

Former Use: Based on review of the historical information, the building currently located on the site was constructed in approximately 1926 and was occupied by a Ford dealership from 1926 to the 1940s. Sanborn maps indicate an auto repair shop was located in the western portion of the building currently located on the site from approximately 1928 to 1934. The site was utilized as a chicken hatchery from the 1940s until 1957 when the hatchery was flooded, and the building remained vacant from approximately 1957 to the mid 1960s. The site was later occupied by a flower shop from approximately 1970 to 2004, and is currently utilized as a retail antique store.
