The DEQ Site Cleanup Assistance Program (SCAP) used funding from an existing State fuel tax to cleanup lead-based paint, lead dust, and asbestos in the Elk City Armory. The following non-regulated and non-friable asbestos was left in place: Transite exhaust flues, transite ceiling panels, and window caulk from the building.

Additional Property Attributes

The Elk City Armory was first built in 1947. The building is home to several non-profit organizations and is known as the Community Care Center. It is a ministry serving the underprivileged. There is a food bank and offices housed in the building. Redevelopment cost is unknown, so $10,000 was used. The UST was removed 9-25-95. The date of cleanup shown in ACRES is for the asbestos and lead-based paint cleanup.

Former Use: The site is located in the SW � of the NE � of the NW � of Section 22, T11N, and R21W I.M, Oklahoma.The Armory is located in north central Elk City in an area surrounded by residences. The site is located off West E Avenue to the north and an alley lies north of the Armory.
