Property Highlights

The BTA was conducted for the City of Atchison to evaluate a property they acquired from the National Guard. A total of 18 of the State's 56 National Guard Armories were targeted by budget cuts to be closed. Atchison's armory was on the list. Possible reuses of the building are being discussed within the community. No Recognized Environmental Conditions RECs were identified at the property therefore, no further assessment is necessary. An Asbestos Survey was conducted as an additional scope outside of the ASTM-1527-05 Phase I assessment. ACM was identified in the building and will need to be addressed prior to renovation or demolition activities. A Phase II was conducted and identified petroleum impacts above cleanup levels in the soil. The site is being transferred to the KDHE Storage Tanks Program for further assessment and/or remediation.

Former Use: National Guard Armory since constructed in 1963.
