Additional Property Attributes

The City has completed a Draft Master Plan for the Redevelopment of the property with mixed commercial, industrial, and residential usage. "Recognized Environmental Conditions" RECs associated with the property were identified as the following: an unidentified, uncapped above-grade steel pipe or casing. Based on the REC, additional Phase II assessment will be conducted on the property, in conjunction with the Northland 4 site. Based on the Phase II, further assessment is not recommended. It is recommended that the pipe be plugged and abandoned in accordance with applicable regulatory agency requirements. In November 2016 the City requested an updated assessment. Based on the updated assessment no RECs were identified, and the property is cleared for redevelopment by KDHE. The City of Osawatomie reapplied for Phase I investigation for this property in November 2016. The application was approved on February 02, 2017. The city plans on having the property developed for commercial use. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) completed a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the Osawatomie Northland IA site in Osawatomie, Kansas. Based on the Phase I report, no ?Recognized Environmental Conditions? (RECs) were identified and the property. Based on the findings of the Phase I no further investigation is needed through the Brownfields Program and the property is cleared for redevelopment.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) completed an updated Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the property in Osawatomie, Kansas in November 2020. Based on the Phase I report, no "Recognized Environmental Conditions" (RECs) were identified at the property. No further investigation was needed through the Brownfields Program and the property was cleared for redevelopment.

Former Use: Property was undeveloped from 1894 to 1981. Between 1904 and 2004 the property was owned by the state of Kansas, it was deeded in 2004 to Miami County as part of the 343rd Street right of way. in 2007 the City of Osawatomie took possession of the property.
