Additional Property Attributes

The subject property was used as a construction storage yard around 2005. Several off-site and hydrologically upgradient properties that stored and generated RCRA hazardous waste or maintained USTs which might be a potential source for soil and groundwater contamination within the subject property. While a soil stockpile was possibly located on the northern portion of the site in 2002, a railroad borders it to the north.

Former Use: Porperty is an unimproved 1.57 acres of land located on the north side of New York Ave., N.E. in the Woodridge neighborhood of NE Washington DC and is currently vacant except for the AT&T cellular phone billboard alingned southeast-northwest and located on the south-central portion of the site. The subject property was a portion of the Monastry lots, a subduvision of large residential properties in the late 1800s, and later part of the Philadelphia, Baltimore Washington Railroad Company from around 1913 until around 1959. In 1960 to 1993, it was occupied by a hotel and the site appears to have been vacant since then except for temporary usage as a construction storage lot around 2005. It was formerly owned by 1943 New York Ave., LP whose chairman is Mr. Gerald Schaffer. The property is currently owned by Mr. Sang Kwonchio.
