Additional Property Attributes

Square shaped former dining hall for BIA Indian Boarding School. The Old Cafeteria (Dining Hall) building is a 9,000 square foot single-story masonry structure with basement that was constructed in 1930s. Currently, the building is vacant and was previously used as office space. SUIT would like to redevelop the building for administrative offices and a historical area. The SUIT plans to redevelop the property into modern office space for Tribal operations. Small amounts of asbestos chrysotile Were found in window glaze, drywall joint compound, mastic and vinyl flooring and magblock pipe insulation. Lead based paint was observed in all interior rooms and on the exterior of the structure. Mercury was found in one basement thermostat. Mold observed in basement due to inadequate drainage in the northeast corner. Former Use: SUIT 1874-1895 BIA 1895-1969 SUIT 1969-present. Cafeteria built in 1920s by BIA, used until 2005.
