Additional Property Attributes

Property is city owned and currently used as a community garden. Phase II sampling was conducted on 1/20/11. In total, 5 surface soil, 2 subsurface soil, and a background surface & subsurface sample located outside garden areas were collected. Compounds exceeding Colorado Soil Evaluation Value residential guideance levels include: benzoapyrene, arsenic, and iron. Arsenic levels throughout the property were within normal background range for Colorado front range. An EPA toxicologist reviewed the results and determined the use of property as a community garden is appropriate and does not constitute any additional risk to users. Samples were collected outside of the garden in the northwest corner of fenceline. High levels of lead and iron fill material were observed in the core samples from outside of the garden area.

Former Use: The property is a 2.1 acre crescent-shaped parcel. Owned and operated by the City of Golden since 1950. From 1950-2007/2008, the property was used by the city parks and streets deptartment. Since 2009, the property has been used as a community garden.
