Additional Property Attributes

The Templeton Gap Landfill operated between 1957 and 1987 as a private dump for municipal waste generated in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It has since been capped and closed and regulated by the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment. The focus of the TBA was to determine the rate at which methane gas is generated from the landfill and whether or not the gas can be used as an energy source at a nearby hospital. The results of the TBA indicated that gas is currently being generated at around 400 BTU/M, which is far higher than anticipated. The Colorado Brownfields Foundation, NREL, and EPA are now working with the hospital and other stakeholders on putting the gas towards productive use.
