Additional Property Attributes

This former brownfield is now a greenspace providing access to the 34-acre Morningside Nature Preserve. The City's Brownfield Program worked with The Conservation Fund and the City's Department of Parks and Recreation in 2011 to perform the necessary environmental due diligence prior to acquisition and development. Asbestos containing building materials (ACM) were identified but no other recognized environmental conditions (RECs) were identified. The Asbestos Survey helped determine abatement activities prior to demolishing the house and carriage house on the property. Between April and July 2011, the City of Atlanta and The Conservation Fund worked out property acquisition. And, according to building records the $25,000 demolition of the house and carriage house happened early 2012. The City budgeted $400,000 for the property acquisition, asbestos abatement and demolition, and park improvements.

Former Use: At the time of the assessments, the property was developed with an unoccupied single family residential structure (built in the 1950s) and a carriage house (built in the 1960s)
