Additional Property Attributes

Sitting across the street from Atlanta Housing's Herndon Homes site and Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Georgia World Congress Center parking lots, this vacant warehouse is situated in the middle of the Northside Drive growth corridor in the English Avenue neighborhood. As such, the site attracts a lot of redevelopment interest. In 2011, the City's Brownfield Program provided a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and a Limited Asbestos and Lead-based Paint Survey during a private property transaction. At the time renovation of the building for a school was contemplated. While redevelopment did not occur then, the property changed ownership again in late 2017. This time for $1.5 million. It is also worth noting, the property valuation by the County has increased by a $1 million since the assessment activities. The City's ESAs facilitated both transactions and the site is primed for future development.

Former Use: The property includes a building in an L-shaped configuration that is partly two-story commercial/office space and partly single-story warehouse space. The site was undeveloped until the early 1930s. The property has been occupied by various entities following the site development in the late 1930s including: oil distributors, fleet sales and vacuum cleaner retail. The site was acquired by the current property owner since the 1980s.
