Additional Property Attributes

The West 135th St Garbage MTS was constructed between 1954 and 1966 for the City of New York. The facility operated as the link between waste collection and final trash disposal. Waste unloaded at the MTS was loaded on to barges for final disposal at on offsite landfill. The Phase I ESA identified RECs associated with potential presence of hazardous building materials such as lead based paints, asbestos materials, PCBs and mercury ballasts and the potential presence of a 3,000-gallon fuel oil tank and septic tank of unknown size.

Former Use: Property owned by the NYC Dept of Sanitation. Operated as a garbage marine transfer station since construction in 1954/1966. The MTS is located in the Hudson River.
