154 Park Central, the future site of the Springfield History Museum, is, according to GIS, owned by the Ozarks charitable real estate. It is located in the heart of downtown and has transferred ownership in 2008. The building that currently stands was built in 1914. Previous uses for the building include a cigar factory in 1896, a Bank in 1902, and afterwards normal commercial space.

Previous uses for the building include a cigar factory in 1896, a Bank in 1902, and has also been the Barth's clothing store, a night club and vacant in recent years. The community will receive a very substantial benefit by having a new and expanded history and cultural center located on the Square, directly in the heart of the region's focus for economic and community redevelopment. Significant long term spin-off benefits are anticipated for the downtown neighborhood. The overall capital investment is abount 22 million dollars.
