Additional Property Attributes

The property was originally used as a trading post in the late 1800's, early 1900's. The Trail's End Bar and Restaurant was built in 1890 and the Osprey Nest was built around 1950. The Poveralli Center would is considering conducting environmental cleanup, demolishing the building, and then constructing a new homeless shelter.

Former Use: In the mid-1950s, the site hosted the Hellgate Trading Post and a number of other structures. By 1951, as shown on Sanborn maps, a small complex of central structures are evident�a jumble of Mercer�s Autocourt, Mercer�s Apartments, and Mercer�s Cabins, according to the 1952 Polk Directory�and one easterly residence remains. By 1965, 1112 West Broadway is the Trail�s End bar; the residences previously on site and the trading post had been removed. By 1970, 1106 is Sharief Pizza Parlor, later giving way to the Perugia restaurant. Between 2001 and 2011, Perugia gave way to the Osprey Nest Liquor Store Lounge and Restaurant; 1112 West Broadway, throughout this time period, remained Trail�s End bar. According to the owner prior to foreclosure, a small apartment complex located between the Osprey Nest and Trail�s End was demolished in the 1990s. This site had no architectural integrity. The design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association of the three connected structures were a jumble of mismatched masonry, wood products, composite shingles, and metal and vinyl siding, with no traditional formal structure. The structure(s) contained asbestos-containing materials.
