Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property is comprised of a total of 1334.09 acres spread throughout Sections 16, 17, 20, 21, and 29 in Kay County, Oklahoma. The property is located on the west side of U.S. Highway 77 north of West Home Road and South of State line Road. North Waverly Street runs through the north end of the property and the rest of the property lies on the west side of the road. This property has a total of 7 Cisterns, 9 water wells, 1salt injection well, and 7 ponds 5 with water, 2 without. Chilocco Creek runs east to west on the north end of the subject property and an intermittent stream runs throughout the property. The subject property is primarily agricultural land with crops of corn, milo, and beans. Other areas on the property are used for farming land to raise cattle and used for hay fields. Within the Treaty of New Echota it is stated that the Cherokee Nation will relinquish it's land east of the Mississippi River in exchange for land in Oklahoma. From that time of the Allotted land to 1866, the Cherokee Nation owned the land in the area known as Chilocco East. In 1866 another Treaty was signed to grant some land back to the Federal Government for what was then and now called Chilocco Indian School and the area surrounding it. The Federal Government owned the land from 1866 to 1968, when in 1968 Cherokee Nation bought the land back from the Federal Government and has owned it since that time until present
