Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The former Monroe Cheese Corporation site is 0.4 acres. There are two structures on the site, connected by a skyway. The first building, the warehouse, was built in 1888 and was a part of the Gottlieb Leuenberger Brewery until the late 19th Centruy. At that time it was purchased by Monroe Cheese Corporation and was used for the aging of its cheeses. An additional building and connecting skyway were added in the early 1990s. The additional building was primary office space. Monroe Cheese Corporation had financial difficulties in the late 90s and early 2000s and closed their business abruptly in 2005. The company went through bankruptcy and is no longer recognized as an organization in Wisconsin. The facility has been vacant ever since the 2005 closing. The Smith Family Trust purchased the facility from a Sheriffs auction in 2005
