Additional Property Attributes

Traces of metals found in the shallow groundwater exceeddrinking water maximum contaminant levels; however the current monitoring of groundwater zones shows that Gardena Dumps are not impacting deeper drinking water aquifers.

Former Use: The site is a vacant lot. Historically, in the mid 1920's the Moneta Brick Company convrted the property into a brick manufacturing facility. It closed in the ealy 1930's and the excavation pits where clay was mined were used as disposal sites for oil refinery wasters from local refineries. This continued into the 1940's. Gardena is working with the site owner and CAL EPA DTSC on cleanup alternatives and to redevelop the property.
