Former Use: Former lumber mill, occupies 135 acres of land donated to the town of North Fork for redevelopment into commercial and/or residential use. Current owner is North Fork Community Development Council. The site had been opeated as a lumber mill from 1942 until its closure in 1994. historical sit4e operations included the treatment and processing of logs, and the fueling mintenance of the logging truck fleet. Treatment operations resulted in the contamination of site soils with pentachlorophenol (PCP), dioxins, furans, and other related constituents. Historical vehicle maintenance of the truck fleet and an underground storage tank led to the contamination of of site soils from various petroleum-based consituents. Following the closure in 1994, the operator, South Fortk Timber Industries, donated the site to th Madea County Redevelopment Agency. In 2006, Madera transferred the property title to the NFCDC, the current owner.
