Additional Property Attributes

The property has been owned by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and precursor agencies since it was developed in the early 1900's. Fuel oil was likely used to fuel generators in the powerhouse, oil stains on the powerhouse floor indicate a leak of what was likely transformer oil which contains PCBs, and dry cleaning solvent may have been released at adjacent properties. Lead and asbestos were confirmed to be present in construction materials. A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment was performed under this TBA to identify RECs that may require further assessment. A Phase II targeted brownfields assessment was conducted to assess the potential presence of lead and asbestos in construction materials, volatile organic compounds and mercury in indoor air, PCBs in soil and stained concrete, and PCBs, petroleum, and metals in soil adjacent to the building foundation. Former Use: Pre-1900 undeveloped; Early 1900's - 1970's powerhouse and office building; 1970's-1989 office building in use - powerhouse vacant; 1989 to present vacant.
