Property Highlights

An interim remedial action was implemented at the site in the form of phytoremediation to combat off-site migration of contaminated stormwater. Cleanup funding is being sought for the site. After cleanup, it is expected that the adjacent property owner will purchase the site for use as a pocket park and urban produce stand, as part of a larger green corridor.

Former Use: 1946-1980 Rodgers Lab- solvent reclamation, acid and cyanide treatment, pesticide products, chemicals and industrial cleaning solvents, sludge storage August 1983- EPA Site Visit September 1982- Site d a hazardsous materials emergency cleanup site by EPA Sept-Nov 1983- Removal of 700-800 55-gallon drums, reagents and seven ASTs October 1989- EPA contactes by adjacent land owner about brown liquid material migrating from site May 1990- EPA conducted Phase I 1993-94- EPA conducted Phase II and cleanup activities, building demolition and asbestos removal, excavation of 3 USTs and surrounding contaminated material 2007-2008 City applied for DNR Site Assessment Grant and conducted Phase I/II and Site Investigation work Aug-Dec 2012- City's consultant conducted additional groundwater sampling and completed a site investigation report Dec 2012- DNR determined more sampling is needed including delineation of off-site soil impacts of VOCs, PAHs and arsenic; installation of off-site monitoring wells for cVOCs; vapor intrusion invetigation
