EPA conducted asbestos assessments at 56 homes that have or will flood as the City of Waubay, SD continues to be inundated by three closed basin lakes. South Dakota Department of Environment & Natural Resources and South Dakota Office of Emergency Management requested EPA Targeted Brownfields Assessment (TBA) assistance. FEMA�s Hazard Mitigation Home Acquisition Project is providing funds to acquire and permanently remove primary residences. Once vacated, these residential properties will be dedicated to reuses compatible with the chronic flood hazard.
