Historical Property

Former Use: The historic Flathead County Jail Building located at 835 South Main Street in Kalispell, Montana. The Site consists of a rectangular 14,280 square-foot parcel in the center of Flathead County Courthouse campus. The existing onsite structures include the historic Fathead County Jail and two attached additions as well as the basement of the Juvenile Detention Center. The historic jail is a two-story building with a full basement. The east addition consists of a maintenance garage and boiler room, while the western addition has been used as the county election office. Title records indicate the property was purchased from the Kalispell Townsite Company by Flathead County on June 17, 1902; the Flathead County Jail was constructed in 1903. The planned reuse is an office building for attorneys and county staff.
