Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Howardville School, located at 6916, U.S. Highway 61, Howardville, Mo., was erected as a high school for black students in the fall of 1957. It opened August, 1958. It housed, educated and graduated all black students from 1958 through 1968. It was integrated in 1972 and operated as Howardville Jr. High through 1980, when it operated as New Madrid County Central West Campus through 1985. It was used as a storage until 1992 when it was quit claimed deeded to the City of Howardville. The building was used as a multipurpose center, housing state agencies, city hall, Howardville community Betterment, social events and other office space. It closed in 2003 due to a leaking roof.
