Former Use: The history of the Site was documented in the Phase I ESA report prepared by Terracon in October 2013.The eastern side of the Site was developed with a grain elevator and/or feed mill from 1884 until 1966. The western and southern sides of the Site historically operated as a coal/fuel company (1915 1966). Other occupants of the Site include a flooring and drapery company in the 1970s, followed by various bar/restaurant establishments, which occupied the site from 1985 until approximately 2011. The Site is currently vacant and unimproved; all of the structures have been removed. The City of Beloit, Wisconsin is the current property owner of record for both parcels, according to the Winnebago County and Rock County Assessors webpages. The City of South Beloit is dedicated to the long-term revival of its economically struggling community and wishes to develop the Site, in cooperation with Beloit, Wisconsin, to create Confluence Park which will create more public open space, river and natural resource access, a Native American historical center, a local museum and recreational areas.
