Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: 1904 this site was developed with two buidings and a feed barn, one building being identified as a bakery and the other as a general repair shop. In 1913, the two buildings are identified as a restaurant and a rooming house. Then, in 1918, the existing building has developed and is labeled as an US Post office, until in 1961 where we see the current onsite improvements. Not only is it listed as a US Post office but also now a Court House. In 1963 there are several federal branches housed in the building. In 1982, Durant Cable Vision Ltd. and Southeastern Oklahoma Computer Svcs. show to be housed there. Several radio, wireless, and mobile stores seem to be listed as being housed at the site. History shows this has been occupied as a general federal building up until 2014. In 2016 this property was donated to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Currently this property sits vacant awaiting remediation of potential environmental issues. It is located within the Historic District of downtown Durant. Imagine Durant would like to support the redevelopment of this building.
