Additional Property Attributes

Denver Urban Gardens, in cooperation with Aurora public schools, is planning on developing a cummunity garden at Hinkley High School. Testing results showed that aluminum, cobalt, iron, manganese, and vanadium were found to exceed the EPA RSL for Residential Soil in some or all soil samples collected. However, the levels found were well below (by several orders of magnitude) the EPA RSL for Industrial Soil. Although these values are reported as being above the EPA RSL residential values, they are in fact well within what is reported to be naturally occurring background for the Denver area as reported by the USGS.

Former Use: The HHS property is located at 1250 Chambers Road, Aurora, Colorado. The area of investigation is located on the southern perimeter of the school property and is approximately 0.33 acres. A review of the EDR radius map, Sanborn maps, aerial photographs, and city directories indicates the Site has been vacant since records began in 1901.
