Additional Property Attributes

The Kalispell BN 3.38 acre property is located within the KRY State CECRA site. The contamination is from three facilities including the Kalispell Pole & Timber Facility, Reliance Refinery, and Yale Oil. The combination of the three properties has been designated as the KRY site by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality. The Kalispell BN 3.38 acre property is currently undergoing remedial actions for known groundwater contamination. Groundwater beneath the subject property is impacted by comingling plumes with VOCs, PCP, petroleum hydrocarbons and dioxins/furans sourced from the KPT, RR and YO facilities.

Former Use: The Kalispell BN 3.38 property is located within the operational area of the current tenant, Klingler Lumber. The current operations on the subject property include fence pole storage, saw dust piles, lumber piles, large transport trucks and fork lifts. Based on the conversation with Flathead County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), City of Kalispell and the EDR report, it is estimated that BNSF Railway Company has owned the property for over 60 years. This 3.38 acre property was part of the Kalispell Pole and Timber wood treatment facility which is part of the MT KRY superfund site due to contamination from the facility and surrounding refineries. The Kalsipell Pole and Timber Facility is an inactive wood treating facility that operated from at least 1973 to 1990. Onsite soils and shallow groundwater are contaminated with pentachlorophenol and associated dioxins/furans, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and diesel-range petroleum hydrocarbons. The facility is not fenced and a sawmill currently operates on a portion of the facility, so on-site workers are present. Groundwater contamination has been found on the Phase I subject property - the Kalispell BN 3.38 acre property.
