Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Reasonably ascertainable records for the subject property extended back to approximately 1891. Data failure occurred in the 1970s during which time a portion of the subject property was reportedly used for surface and deep coal mining activities (based on an interview with Ms. Tonia Brookman, Executive Director of the Woodland Community Land Trust). Written and verbal correspondence with the US Mine Agency indicates that the mining operation ceased in 1978; however, the regulatory information for the strip mine was subsequently destroyed when the mine site became inactive. Additional correspondence with the Office of Surface Mining in Knoxville, Tennessee, also indicates that there are no records available for the former mining operations at the subject property. Between the late 1970s to the 1990s, this portion of the subject property appears to have been vacant land. Between 1996 and 2003, five residential structures (two of which were subsequently burned and/or demolished) were developed on the subject property in the area of the former surface mining operations. The subject property has been residential and vacant land with a cemetery since that time.
