Additional Property Attributes

Bent County conducted abatement activities for LBP on Building 310 at the Ft. Lyon Facility. Based on previous investigations, lead-based paint (LBP) had previously been identified in the building- unit 301 E. The TBA included an ACM survey to determine and/or refine the locations and extents of ACM at the building and visual inspections for PCBs, mercury, and mold. Previous reports indicated that ACM was found in the building. However, the Phase II investigation included 69 samples and no samples were reported as positive (>1%) for asbestos. For this TBA project, all paint inside the building was considered LBP.

For the cleanup, all LBP was abated.

Former Use: Building 310 is a three story duplex home on the southwest side of D Street. U.S. Naval Hospital site maps from 1321 when the property was a naval hospital include building 310. The Fort Lyon Facility property consists of 512 acres with approx. 55 residential buildings and a large community building. Fort Lyon dates back to 1868 when it was used as a U.S. Army Fort. The Fort Lyon Facility property has also been used as a TB sanatorium, VA Hospital, and correctional facility. The property is owned by Colorado Department of Personnel and Administration and Bent County manages the property.
