The building was constructed in 1954 and used a school dormitory. The building is vacant. The building is designed to include bedrooms and multi-use rooms such as classrooms, a kitchen, and office space. The building is X shaped. The cafeteria is in the center of the X. The offices and exam rooms are next to cafeteria and the dormitory rooms are at the end of the X/dumbell. The Jefferson Local Development Corporation would like to purchase and bring the building back into use. Former Use: Dormitory #6 was built in 1954 and the roof was replaced in 1993. The property was used by the Montana State School for Feeble Minded until sometime between 1970 - 1980. In 2014, the Montana State Training School Historic District was listed on National Register of Historic Places with building #6 listed as a contributing building to the historic district. Previous owners of the school campus property included the Montana Department of Transportation and the Montana Department of Corrections. Jefferson County currently owns the building and Jefferson Local Development Corporation currently leases the building from the County.
