Additional Property Attributes

T&L Properties and the City of Kalispell are planning to redevelop The Kalispell Malting and Brewing property. The anticipated redevelopment includes a new distillery, tasting room and parking lot. A Phase I Site Assessment was needed for completion of financing through USDA Rural Development. Historic records indicate that the subject property was utilized for a brewery, an Army/Navy retail store, a press mill for rolling metal roofing, a steel fabrication shop and as a general storage. Currently, Absolute Transmission Resource and Auto Repair operates out of the metal Quonset hut on the subject property. The property has four buildings: a metal Quonset hut building (Currently occupied by Absolute Transmission Resource and Auto Repair Garage), the old brick brewery building (vacant), and two Quonset hut storage buildings attached to brewery building (vacant). Results of the Phase I ESA did not identify any RECs; however, the potential for non-scope conditions ACM, LBP, PCBs, mercury were identified. Due to the historic light industrial use of site and/or area, preparation and use of a Materials Management Plan during redevelopment of the subject property was recommended in the Phase I.

Former Use: The Kalispell Malting and Brewing copany operated on the property since 1894. The brewery building on the property appears to have been built in 1903 and operated until 1962. The brewery building is vacant. A metal fabrication shop was located on the property in a quonset hut from 1972-1977. Other businesses included Kalispell Cabinet Works, Custom Upholstrey, Army Corps Shop, Vortex Lures, and Homestead Press. Since 2013, Absolute Transmission Repair Shop has operated a business on the property. Property ownership has changed numerous times since 1954. The current owners, T&L Properties, took ownership of the property from William F Timm and Rose B Timm in 2005.
