Additional Property Attributes

The property is proposed for redevelopment by the adjacent Vermont Farmers Food Center as part of their regional storage and distribution hub. They are currently working to fund a CAFI and Corrective Action Plan, which will set the stage for site remediation and integration into the VFFC facility.

The Site consists of an approximately 1.7-acre rectangular parcel located on the southeast corner of the intersection of State Street and Cleveland Avenue. The Site is bound by State Street to the north, by the Vermont Rail System corridor to the south, by residential houses and an abandoned filling station/automobile garage (Former Korner Pocket) to the east, and by Cleveland Avenue to the west. The Site was historically used for textile manufacturing; however other uses of the site included: lumber yard, offset printing facility, and industrial purposes associated with the rail line that forms the southern boundary of the Site.
The Site currently houses one dilapidated building with a 19,250 square foot footprint that was constructed in the 1940s, which has two stories with a partial basement. An adjoining building off the south wall of the existing building that was constructed in the early 1890s was demolished and the debris (identified as asbestos containing) remains on-site, within the footprint of the old building.
