Additional Property Attributes

The target property is situated on the eastern edge of the town of Sunburst, and is located on the west side of U.S. Interstate 15. The parcel is generally flat in topography, with a slight slope to the southeast. No permanent structures were observed on the target property on January 8, 2018. A portion of the residual concrete foundation from the former service station is visible at the site. An area of excavation is visible on the northern side of the property and is approximately 7 feet deep. Dirt mounds containing clean soil were also present around the excavated area. The remaining property is occupied by scrap metal, old farm equipment, native grass, and gravel. The site is surrounded commercial land use. Former Use: The property was operated as a gas station until 1992 when the existence of three onsite underground storage tanks (USTs) was first documented by the DEQ?s predecessor agency. The tanks and underground piping were formerly located to the east of the old gas station building. The USTs were reportedly associated with a nearby pump island also located on the north side of the building. After 1996, the facility operated as a fueling station with above-ground tanks that served commercial vehicles until it was closed in late 1998 (NTL, 2000).
