Government Controls
Phase II ESA found contamination in groundwater and indoor air. Deed restrictions (Groundwater) and zoning (non-residential) use restrictions may be used until cleanup is completed. In September 1989, a new plant supply well (PSW-3) was installed and provided water to both the plant and four affected residences. In March 1990, VOCs were detected in PSW-3; therefore, a dual carbon filter treatment system was installed in May 1990. PSW-3 continues to provide treated water to both the plant and four residences, however, the property and affected residences will soon be connected to the City of Ervin water system (Ervin Utilities).
