Additional Property Attributes

At the Town of Dinosaur's request, EPA performed a Phase II assessment at the former Dinosaur School that identified asbestos containing materials in the building (primarily in the flooring) and small amounts of lead-based paint. The assessment was completed in September 2018. In summer 2019, the Town of Dinosaur received a $200,000 grant from EPA for cleanup. The asbestos abatement was completed in June 2020 and the roof replacement was completed in March 2021. The Town of Dinosaur plans to reuse the former school as a new Community Center. The Community Center will provide space for after school activities, community gatherings, senior events, and nutritional support services. The Town has been partnering with the University of Colorado's Department of Architecture for assistance with design plans.
