Additional Property Attributes

The subject property currently includes a slab on-grade building with two main sections - an approximately 6,000 square-foot (ft2) equipment bay area, last used as a gymnasium when the building was used as a community center by the town of Las Animas (closed in approximately 2005), and an approximately 5,000 ft2 office portion that contains several meeting/office rooms. The facility is currently not in use; all furnishings have been removed and utilities are turned off. It continues to be owned and managed by the Colorado Army National Guard (COARNG). The armory structure is located on a reportedly 1.25-acre parcel and is surrounded by residential and municipal properties. County records indicate that the Armory facility land was conveyed by the City of Las Animas on September 14, 1955 for use as an armory.
