Additional Property Attributes

The Nevada Army National Guard first owned and operated the site from 1960 until the mid-1990s. The site contains a building, which was constructed in 1960. The Nevada Army National Guard primarily used the site for training purposes. From 1999 to 2015-2016, Mineral County began using the site as a juvenile detention center through a lease with the Nevada Army National Guard. Mineral County acquired the site from the State of Nevada, Division of State Lands for and on behalf of the Nevada Army National Guard, through a quitclaim deed in June 2015. The site has been used as a Boys & Girls Club since 2015. Mineral County requested assistance from the Nevada Brownfields Program in assessing the onsite building for asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint. Potential asbestos-containing floor were damaged and there is a concern that asbestos fibers have become airborne-posing a potential health hazard to the youth, parents, and employees who use the onsite building. Additionally, potential future renovations will require that an asbestos-containing material survey and lead-based paint survey be conducted beforehand. The surveys will help determine the mitigation necessary (if any) prior to continued use of the onsite building and potential future renovations.
