Additional Property Attributes

The subject property includes an approximately 2 acre commercial lot along the west side of Airline Boulevard. The earliest record of the subject property dates back to the 1935 topographic map that illustrates the subject property as absent of structures. According to historical records the subject property and surrounding area were vacant prior to the construction of Selman Field Army Air Corps training facility for pilots during the 1940s. The subject property was utilized for barracks during the active usage of Selman Field during WWII. The subject property was vacant from at least 1949 to at least 1974 after the removal of the barracks as part of the decommissioning of the military facility. The aerial photographs of the subject property from 1985 to present show the subject property as a storage area for solid construction waste and gravel or sand. The adjoining properties during site reconnaissance include vacant fields to the north, southeast, southwest and west, Army National Guard OMS #3 to the east, and River City Ready Mix LLC on the adjoining property to the south. The current property owner is the City of Monroe, Louisiana. The property is in the process of being sold for use as an industrial material storage area.
