Additional Property Attributes

EPA conducted a site reconnaissance at the property in April 2021 in order to evaluate the REC identified during the 2019 building evaluation report; determine the nature and extent of certain contaminants that may have negative impacts on human health and the environment; and assess the potential reuse of the Site which may require cleanup.
Based on the findings of the site reconnaissance, EPA conducted a Phase II ESA in May 2021. As part of the Phase II, EPA conducted a hazardous materials investigation of the buildings onsite to determine the presence of asbestos containing material (ACM), lead-based paint (LBP), and mold. A West Virginia-licensed asbestos inspector conducted the ACM survey of Building 727, as well as LBP screening, and mold inspection of the facility. ACM, LBP, and mold were identified on and in the existing structure on the Site. LBP was found in various areas of Building 727, as well a visible mold.
