Additional Property Attributes

Star Theatre is a historical movie theater and community event space located in downtown Whitehall, Montana. It is one of the last remaining historical buildings in the downtown district of Whitehall. It is currently leased to Gold Junction Presents, a locally owned and operated non-profit, which shows films and hosts educational and recreational activities focused on the arts in the theater room and manages two commercial spaces leased to local businesses. The building was built in the early 1910s and has operated as a community dance hall, banquet hall, a gymnasium, and a movie theater in addition to hosting several businesses on the second story and two storefronts throughout its 110+ year history. Several iterations of renovations have occurred over the last 110 years as well, which triggered suspicion of hazardous building materials. The building is currently undergoing the application process to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Gold Junction Presents is considering purchasing the property and renovating it with respect to the historical aspects, in order to expand the current programing and event offerings and better serve the community of Whitehall.
