Additional Property Attributes

The property is located along the Missisquoi River adjacent to the Enosburg Water and Light Department Dam and Bridge of Flowers and Lights. The northwestern side of the property consists mostly of bedrock outcroppings and thin soil cover. The most recent past use was to provide electricity. The property contains two buildings, one of which houses a 300 kilowatt diesel generator. From 1895 through 1915, the property was occupied by a grist mill, blacksmith shop, paint shop, and in 1900 a creamery. In the 1920s, the complex of buildings was replaced by an electric power house. The current-day buildings are believed to have been constructed in the 1940s. The Village of Enosburg Falls purchased the property in 1930 and operated the generator until the mid-1990s. Project redevelopment use is greenspace with historical interpretive site to fit with current efforts to develop park and greenway along Missiquoi River. (PPF attached to QR 12, 7/1/06-9/30/06)

Former Use: 1895-1915: grist mill, blacksmith shop, paint shop, creamery. 1920's: electric power house built. 1930: purchased by village and operated for power generation through 1998.
